OUR History
Looking to the future without forgetting the past
We have much to celebrate in these years of history. We have undergone numerous transformations, from our creation as a firm focused on public law to our consolidation as a comprehensive office with cases across the country. We take pride in looking back and remembering how we started from a small office in a commercial center in Brasília, with a lot of determination and dreams ahead, to building a modern, innovative, and nationally recognized law firm. We have come a long way, and although it feels like it has been a brief journey, it has been filled with challenges and triumphs.
Our story began in 2007 in an office at the Brasília Business Center, in the central area of the federal capital. Rafael Carneiro joined José Rui Carneiro, a professional with extensive experience in federal public administration, to found Carneiros Advogados.
We started as a boutique law firm with the mission of resolving complex cases through agile and highly qualified service. The partnership between lawyers of different generations has, since the foundation, come to represent one of the hallmarks of our firm: the energy, drive, and innovative profile of young professionals, combined with the experience and credibility of senior lawyers with a vast professional background.
In the beginning, the firm focused on the higher courts, particularly in public law. Over time, we gradually expanded and specialized our areas of practice.
Our growth was accompanied by the expansion of our physical space in 2009, with a new headquarters at the Embassy Tower Building, also in the central area of Brasília.
Partnership with jurist Gilson Dipp. Expansion of the Criminal Business Law and Compliance practice areas.
In 2018, we inaugurated our current headquarters – a 300 m² space in the ION Building.
Located just a few meters from the Esplanade of the Ministries, the building makes us proud for its beauty and its certification with a high environmental quality seal. The following year, we opened our office in São Paulo, on the charming and bustling Alameda Santos.
In 2022, we strengthened our practice in economic, competition, and regulatory law.
with the arrival of partner Gilvandro Araújo, who served for over ten years at the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) as a counselor, attorney-general, and interim president.
As we celebrate our 18th birthday, we are a team of 30 professionals, led by 10 partners, and focused on 9 legal areas.
